Having kept fish (before I knew better) and scuba dived for years, I am well aware of their intelligence and emotion. I stopped eating sea life 20 years ago as the barbarity and unsustainability of the industry was obvious even then. It’s not only fishing that poses a threat, ignorant acts such as shark killing vendettas are as insane as giving home invaders a legal right to kill the home owners because they pose a threat.
As a young girl of three years, I vividly recall walking along the seashore with my mother. As I turned towards the sea I heard the soul wrenching sound of someone crying in utter desolation. It was so deeply moving that time stood still and in this moment of pure heart connection that only a very young child can have I realised it was the sound of the waves. The ocean was crying for help! This was a defining moment in my life. I was too young to know why then, but now I do know I am 100% committed to doing whatever I can to help. It’s an unspoken promise I intend to keep.
